At YouMuse, we believe that your music listening habits and personal data belong to you and nobody else. Our software is designed from the ground up to respect your privacy, satisfy the strict guidelines of the Google Chrome Web Store, and handle everything locally on your own computer.
1. What Data We Collect
Absolutely None. YouMuse does not collect, record, track, transmit, or share any personal information, location tracking, browser history, or music listening habits. Every aspect of playback sync, lyrics rendering, sleep timers, and hotkey listeners operates entirely locally inside your browser process.
2. Authentication and YouTube Music Access
YouMuse is an independent player bridge. It does not require any third-party Google or YouTube account logins. Instead, it interacts directly with your already logged-in music.youtube.com tab using high-performance, sandboxed browser content scripts. We do not have access to, nor do we request, your Google/YouTube password or credentials.
3. Licensing & Device Identifiers
When you upgrade to YouMuse Pro, we generate a cryptographically signed static license key corresponding to your checkout email. On first activation, the extension registers a random local device UUID (generated on your machine) with our licensing server to support the single active-device lock mechanism. No personal or telemetry data is linked to this identifier.
4. Cookies & Web Storage
The extension uses Chrome’s secure local storage APIs (chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.session) to store your theme preferences, sleep countdown times, ratings milestones, and license key entitlement. This data stays 100% on your local disk and is never uploaded to any remote analytics database.
5. Third-Party Websites
Our website links to Polar.sh to process checkout subscriptions securely. The payment forms, subscription checkout, and billing portals are entirely handled by Polar.sh and encrypted with industry-standard bank-level security.
