At YouMuse, we believe that your music listening habits and personal data belong to you and nobody else. Our software is designed from the ground up to respect your privacy, satisfy the strict guidelines of the Google Chrome Web Store, and handle everything locally on your own computer.
Core extension (free): We do not collect, sell, or transmit your browsing history, song titles, or playback activity to YouMuse servers. Player state stays in your browser via Chrome storage APIs.
YouMuse Pro (optional): If you purchase a subscription, checkout is handled by Polar.sh. To activate Pro on your device, the extension sends your license key and a randomly generated device identifier to youmuse.site for validation only. We do not use this for advertising or analytics.
YouMuse does not require a separate Google login. It interacts with your existing music.youtube.com tab using sandboxed content scripts. We never request or store your Google/YouTube password.
When you activate YouMuse Pro, the extension registers a random local device UUID with our licensing server to enforce the one-device-at-a-time license limit. You can transfer or deactivate from extension settings. Your checkout email is stored by Polar.sh as the merchant of record; we receive only what is needed to validate your license key.
The extension uses Chrome’s secure local storage APIs (chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.session) to store your theme preferences, sleep countdown times, ratings milestones, and license key entitlement. This data stays 100% on your local disk and is never uploaded to any remote analytics database.
Our website links to Polar.sh to process checkout subscriptions securely. The payment forms, subscription checkout, and billing portals are entirely handled by Polar.sh and encrypted with industry-standard bank-level security.
If you have any questions about our security architecture or compliance protocols, reach out directly at youmuse.site/support.
